GSGLA Bank Letter Request/Change Form

Troop/Service Unit bank account information and GSGLA requirements:
- Please note, US Bank is the preferred GSGLA bank for new troop accounts.
  - An appointment is required to open or make changes to a bank account
  - No set up or annual fees
  - No monthly fees and no minimum balance after opening account
  - Electronic statements are free; paper statements are charged a monthly fee.
- Troops currently with bank accounts at other banks may continue with that bank or may move the account to US Bank (Submit a Bank Request eform).
- Please note: At this time, we are not opening NEW Girl Scout Troop accounts with the following banks: Wells Fargo, Pasadena Federal Credit Union, Union Bank, One West Bank, Downey Federal Credit Union, Banc of California, Bank of America. Current accounts should not be affected.
- As a reminder, GSGLA REQUIRES a troop bank account to have two authorized signers to open a bank account and the third authorized signer should be added within 120 days of opening the account and by June when submitting the troop/SU year end financials.
  - Authorized signers may not be related nor may they live in the same household.
  - Authorized signers must have a current Girl Scout membership, a background clearance, and a role listed on the troop or service unit roster.
- All signers have a responsibility for safeguarding Troop/Service Unit funds throughout the year. Troops and Service Units must submit the Year End Finance Report once a year.
- All bank accounts are opened as Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles, a non-profit business checking account, using GSGLA’s Tax ID number to open the account.
- US Bank will run a ChexSystem report on each signer using their Social Security Number. US Bank does not run a formal credit report. If using a bank other than US Bank, they may run a credit report on signers for the account. This is a standard procedure for most banks and credit unions when opening a business account and is for their purposes only. GSGLA does not have access to any information from the ChexSystem or credit reports.

All troop account signers will qualify by having:
- a current Girl Scout membership registration
- a current background clearance
- a volunteer role showing on the Troop or Service Unit Roster for which they are applying
Once all the qualifications have been met for all signers, a bank letter and other documents needed by the bank will be sent to the person who requested the letter. Please allow 7 business days for processing of your request after the signers have been cleared.
